SHARON Man faces firearm charges in connection with fatality

SHARON, Pa. -- Police filed charges against the man accused of firing the fatal shot that killed Edward Boles at a North Water Avenue apartment Saturday, but he isn't facing a murder charge.
Michael D. Harris, 24, of Chicago, who was staying at the Water Avenue apartment with a friend, was arrested at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant charging him with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm with an altered or obliterated serial number.
Police said he also is wanted on a parole violation in Chicago related to a drug deliver charge. He was held in jail overnight for arraignment.
Police Chief Raymond Greene said the investigation into the death of Boles, 38, of Meek Street, is still being investigated, but Harris faces no other charges at this time.
It appears that he acted in self-defense.
Police said that Boles and an accomplice, Jody Gabriele, 40, of Elm Avenue, forced their way into the apartment and attacked Harris with a baseball bat, demanding money, before Harris was able to get a .32 caliber handgun and fire several shots at them.
Gabriele, who was jailed on assault, robbery and other charges, wasn't hit, but Boles was shot in the abdomen and died about four hours later.
Police said they still don't know who owns the firearm.
