Medical equipment donations sought
SHARON, Pa. -- Volunteer groups in Mercer County municipalities will work Saturday on Make A Difference Day to help the Medical Equipment Recycling Program expand its inventory.
The program, with headquarters at the Salvation Army building on Fisher Hill Street, seeks donations of used medical equipment, refurbishes it and then gives it to people who don't have insurance to cover the cost of such equipment.
Crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, bedside commodes and extended tub benches are some of the items needed.
Volunteers from the Key Club at Greenville High School will staff the UPMC Horizon garage on Fourth Street in Greenville from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to handle collections.
The Phi Omega group at Grove City College will handle donations coming into the Pine Grove Community Center on state Route 208, and volunteers will staff the Salvation Army building in Sharon during those same hours.
