Grove City man gets 1-5 years in molestation of adolescent



MERCER -- A Grove City man was sentenced Wednesday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to one to five years in prison for engaging in sex over a period of four years with an adolescent boy.
Initial charges included two counts when the boy was under 13 and two when he was under 16.
James Caszatt Jr., 25, of Gilmore Street, pleaded guilty in June to a reduced charge of statutory sexual assault.
According to court records, Caszatt committed the acts between May, 1996 and March, 2000 in Grove City and Liberty Township.
Judge Thomas Dobson ordered the sentence served concurrently with a probation imposed last March on unrelated misdemeanor charges.
Karen Shellhammer, 31, of Zoccoli Trailer Park, Edinburg, was placed on two years probation and ordered to pay $721 restitution to Rite Aid on East State Street, Sharon, for writing eight checks totaling that amount on a closed account last January.
Christopher Matvey, 24, 846 Darby Road, Hermitage, was fined $50 for tearing a page from a Sharon Police Department docket book in May and throwing it away in an attempt to hide the record of his arrest on charges of driving under the influence.
