Annual costume contest
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Board will hold "The Second annual Original Not So Very Scary Costume Contest" Saturday after the performance and autograph party for "The Boxcar Children." Entry fee is $1.50 per person.
All participants will have an opportunity to show off their costumes on The Playhouse stage, and there will be prizes for everyone.

Expansion approved
YOUNGSTOWN -- The U.S. Department of the Interior has approved an expansion of the Wick Park Historic District.
The area bounded by Elm Street and Broadway and Wick and Madison avenues has been added to the district. The extension is east of the original district, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 for its connection with the steel industry.
Those who rehabilitate properties on the national register can qualify for a 20-percent federal-income tax credit if the work follows federal guidelines.
