Kennedy Catholic drops 27-9 contest
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Slippery Rock High, behind by three points at halftime, rallied for 21 points in the second half to post a 27-9 victory over Kennedy Catholic Saturday.
Travis Sarver scored on a 29-yard run to give Slippery Rock (4-4) a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Steve Hough kicked a 34-yard field goal for Kennedy Catholic (0-8) with 51 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
Following the kickoff, Slippery Rock fumbled and Matt Carothers of the Golden Eagles scooped it up and returned it 21 yards to the Rockets' 25.
Phile Doyle then caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Matt Cascio with 32 seconds remaining in the half. The Golden Eagles led 9-6 at intermission.
The Rockets pulled ahead in the third quarter when Sarver, who rushed for 175 yards on 33 carries, scored on an 11-yard run.
