Health district to give flu, pneumonia shots
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown City Health District will administer flu and pneumonia shots for people 65 and older and those suffering with chronic health conditions from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oakhill Renaissance Place, 345 Oak Hill Ave., second floor.
Flu shots are $10; pneumonia shots are $15. There is no charge for Medicare part B cardholders.
Public forum scheduled for mortgage lending
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Coalition for Community Reinvestment will have a public forum concerning predatory mortgage lending from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 in the Oakhill Renaissance Place auditorium, 345 Oak Hill Ave. The forum will center on the pitfalls and how to protect against them.
Predatory mortgage practices involve aggressive marketing that promises low payments but may contain monthly payments and balloon mortgages that borrowers can't meet. Once a payment is missed, the lender forecloses on a property and the borrower faces a sheriff's sale.
Speakers will include representatives of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Ohio Attorney General's Office, the Better Business Bureau, Northeast Ohio Legal Services and the Coalition on Homelessness and Housing in Ohio.
