WARREN -- The Warren JFK football team remains undefeated through nine starts after Friday's 21-14 squeaker over Campbell Memorial.
Senior tailback Josh Cayson had 140 yards on 18 carries and scored a 42-yard touchdown to lift the Eagles.
The Red Devils (4-5) were never out of the game, but had drives stalled on JFK's 17, 21 and 3 when the Eagles defense came up strong.
"They played us very well, my hat goes off to them," JFK coach Tony Napolet said. "We shot ourselves in the foot with interceptions, fumbles and penalties but our kids played well to win."
In the first quarter, JFK's Justin Eschman intercepted a Rick Quinn pass on the Eagles 48 and brought it back to the Campbell 30.
Two plays later, Alex Senk hit Orion Knepp with a 35-yard touchdown pass for the Eagles.
Stalled drive: Late in the first period, the Red Devils drove from its own 23 to the JFK 17 but fumbled.
Campbell turned the ball over on downs at the JFK 21, ending the threat.
JFK started a drive on its 21 and a pass was intercepted by Campbell's Albert Holland at the Eagle 34 and he brought it back to the 1.
On the next play, Quinn dove in to tie the game at 7-7.
On a second-and-7 in the third quarter, Campbell's Holland fumbled and JFK defensive back Matt Karl recovered and ran 35 yards for a touchdown. The conversion gave the Eagles a 14-7 lead.
JFK made it 21-7 with five minutes left when Cayson ran a sweep to the right side and scored a 42-yard touchdown. Russell Accordino added the extra point.
Campbell came right back and marched from its own 40 to the Eagle 2, but a pass was broken up on fourth down.
JFK faced a second down and long on the Campbell 18, but a Senk pass was intercepted by Ali Awad on the 5 and he brought it back 14 yards to the Campbell 19.
Closing in: Campbell put together an 81-yard scoring drive, capped by a 5-yard TD run by Mike Harden. A Quinn conversion kick made it 21-14 with 1:38 remaining.
"Our kids will fight from whistle to whistle," Campbell coach John Ryan said. "Our kids were confident coming into the game. We played our game and we knew we had a chance. Cayson made some big plays for them that hurt us."
Hardin and Holland each rushed for 50 yards on 14 and 18 carries, respectively.
Campbell had more first downs, 17-11, and more total yards 259-228.
