Rayen rallies past Wilson in City Series
YOUNGSTOWN -- Rayen quarterback Ron Lampkin had a big game through the air as the Tigers beat Wilson 32-24 in a City Series game Friday at Stambaugh Stadium.
Lampkin hit on 15-of-20 passes for 311 yards and five touchdowns.
Lampkin also ran 15 times for 38 yards and a 6-yard touchdown for the Tigers (1-8, 1-3).
Wilson (0-9, 0-2) took a 24-6 lead in the second quarter, but the Tigers finished the game on a 26-0 spurt.
Early lead: Quinn Humphries ran for a 12-yard touchdown and Ben Lane fell on a fumble in the end zone as the Redmen took a 12-0 lead into the second quarter.
After Craig Lastings caught a 35-yard touchdown pass from Lampkin, Wilson got a 2-yard scoring run from Shawn Lane and a 14-yard TD dash from Humphries.
It was all Rayen after that.
Lastings caught a 14-yard scoring aerial from Lampkin, who then raced for a 6-yard score to close the gap to 24-18 at the break.
Lampkin threw touchdown passes of 36 and 22 yards in the second half.
Humphries ran 18 times for 120 yards to lead the Redmen.
Rayen had more first downs, 19-14.
