Rally to promote levy
AUSTINTOWN -- The Citizens for Mental Retardation Levy Committee will have a rally at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities' transportation facility at 4795 Woodridge Drive to promote its $2-mill renewal levy on the Nov. 6 ballot. The event will feature speakers, refreshments and a fireworks display at 8 p.m.
Judge to give lecture
YOUNGSTOWN -- Judge William T. Bodoh of U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Youngstown, will deliver the Forrest B. Weinberg Memorial Lecture at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Cleveland State University's Marshall College of Law. His topic will be "Bankruptcy Reform: An Orderly Development of Public Policy?" The event is free to the public.
Workshop offers help
BOARDMAN -- Coping with crisis is the topic of a free public workshop designed to help people in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks or other personal crises at 7 p.m. Monday at the Boardman Public Library, 7680 Glenwood Ave.
The speaker is Janet Thornton, a licensed professional clinical counselor with Total Care, who will discuss common mental, emotional and physical reactions to unusual or traumatic stress and stress reduction strategies. The event is sponsored by Health Choices Network.
Board plans meeting
LIBERTY -- The township zoning board of appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 in the township administration building. Sally L. Morey is seeking a variance of parking requirements for a storage building on Harding Avenue.
PTA schedules forum
STRUTHERS -- Struthers PTA has scheduled a Struthers Board of Education candidate forum for 7 p.m. Thursday in the middle school auditorium. The League of Women Voters is sponsoring the event.
