Niles defeats Salem, 31-0, for third straight victory

SALEM -- Lou Viglio, Vince Gatta, Matt White and Kyle Leonard scored touchdowns Friday as the Niles High football team defeated Salem, 31-0.
Bill Sullivan kicked a 36-yard field goal and Viglio raced for a 14-yard tally as Niles opened up a 10-0 lead at halftime of the Metro Athletic Conference game.
Viglio rushed 13 times for 63 yards for the Red Dragons (4-5, 3-2).
Steve Mientkiewicz threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Gatta in the third quarter and White, who ran 17 times for 64 yards, scored a 1-yard touchdown.
Leonard had a 17-yard run to round out the scoring. Gary Colian ran 11 times for 68 yards and Ken Buckley had 10 carries for 28 yards for the Quakers (1-8, 0-5).
