Canfield boys blank Poland

CANFIELD -- Zach Bezyak scored a goal on an assist by Julian Donosrio with 10 minutes remaining in the first half and Canfield High's boys soccer team went on to defeat Poland 4-0 in a Division II sectional championship game Thursday.
Matt Pietro made the second goal for the Cardinals (10-4-3) on an assist by Aaron Bestic late in the first half.
Mark Sonnett tallied a goal for Canfield on an assist from Pietro 15 minutes into the second half.
Bezyak collected his second goal on an assist from Scott Seiser with 12 minutes remaining in the contest.
Mark Kime, goalkeeper for the Cardinals, had 11 saves. Canfield had 23 shots on goal, compared to 16 for Poland.
Canfield will travel to Salem in a district semifinal Monday at 7 p.m.
Boardman 2, Canton McKinley 1: BOARDMAN -- Senior midfielder Ryan Yosay and senior striker Jamie Hay scored first half goals to help lift Boardman in a boys Div. I match.
The fourth-seeded Spartans (10-5-2) will play at top-seeded Green Monday in a district semifinal.
Andy Good and Yosay had the assists while goalie Joel Monaco had seven saves.
Just 14 seconds into the second half Austin Stewart scored for the Bulldogs (8-7-3).
