MCKINLEY HEIGHTS Investigation seeks reason woman was shot
Police don't know if the shooting was intentional or an accident.
MCKINLEY HEIGHTS -- Weathersfield Township police are attempting to find a motive for the weekend shooting of a Cleveland woman here.
Police Capt. Joe Consiglio has charged two people with ties to the shooting.
Latasha Cole, 16, of Cordova Avenue, Youngstown, is in Trumbull County Juvenile Justice Center charged with delinquency by way of felonious assault. She appeared Monday in the county's family court, Consiglio said.
In Niles Municipal Court, William Miller, 19, of Lakewood Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with obstruction of justice.
He was in the Trumbull County Jail on Monday in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
Who was hurt: Consiglio said Jaquala Johnson, 19, of Pontiac Avenue, Cleveland, was shot in the head Friday night in an apartment at 2891 Tibbetts-Wick Road.
The woman who rents the apartment was not home at the time. The investigator said a neighbor heard a shot and saw people running from the apartment.
Whether the shooting was intentional or an accident hasn't been determined, Consiglio said.
After the shooting, Cole and Johnson were dropped off from a car at Forum Health Northside Medical Center, where Johnson was in critical condition Monday afternoon.
The car containing Miller and Danny Cole, brother of the 16-year-old, was stopped by Youngstown police near the hospital. Danny Cole was released.
Police found a revolver and a pistol in some bushes outside the apartment. Consiglio said Miller was charged because he attempted to hide the guns.
