CANFIELD -- The Mahoning County coroner's office has been asked to perform an autopsy on the body of a Fairground Boulevard man found dead in his apartment Monday. Police found the body of Dan Jorza, 57, about 9 p.m. Thursday with blood on the floor beneath his head. Police didn't find signs of a struggle in the apartment, and personal valuables had not been removed from the body. The door was locked from the inside. Police made the discovery after receiving a call from Jorza's son, who said he hadn't been able to contact his father since Oct. 4.
Marching band show
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city schools' annual marching band show will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Rayen School's football field. If the case of rain, the show will be moved to 10 a.m. Thursday.
The event features bands from Rayen, Woodrow Wilson and Chaney high schools, as well as guest band Girard High School.
YSU gets state funds
COLUMBUS -- State money is on its way to Youngstown State University to buy land for more parking. Without comment Monday, the State Controlling Board approved the university's purchase of 0.28 acres for parking for the Cafaro and Lyden dormitories. The university will buy the parcel for $10,000 from the Bright Star Church of God in Christ, 125 Madison Ave., state records show.
Catholic speaker
HUBBARD -- Thomas Rutkoski, a Catholic who speaks internationally and is author of "Miracles and How to Work Them," will speak at 6 p.m. today at St. Patrick Parish Center during a program on physical and spiritual healing.
Leaf pickup
LOWELLVILLE -- Village maintenance crews will pick up leaves that are raked to the curb beginning Monday and ending Nov. 30. Leaves will be picked up, by precinct on the following days:
U First precinct, McGill Street east to the village's south side, each Monday and Tuesday.
U Second precinct, Parsons Street west to the football field, each Wednesday.
U Third precinct, between Parsons Street and McGill Street, each Thursday and Friday.
Village officials said leaves should not be raked into the roadway or on top of sewers. Bagged leaves will not be picked up.
Grief camp offered
VILLA MARIA, Pa. -- Camp Light of Hope, a free weekend camp for adults experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one, will be Friday through Sunday at the Villa Maria Education Center. The camp, sponsored by Hospice of the Valley in Boardman, is open to residents of Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, regardless of the circumstances of the death or how long ago the death occurred.
