Austintown schools revise resolution

AUSTINTOWN -- The township school board has revised its appropriation resolution for this year to include an additional $900,000 in state and federal grants.
The resolution was revised to show that the board has $32 million in general fund money. The board approved the revision at a meeting Monday night.
Barbara Kliner, the board treasurer, said the board members recently learned that they had received the state and federal grants. The township schools receive similar grants each year, she said.
"Probably, in another month or two, we'll be amending it again," Kliner said.
A member of the Austintown Education Association also presented board members with a $4,000 check for their school bond campaign. The association is the union that represents district teachers.
The board hopes township voters approve a 3.9-mill, 26-year school bond issue during the Nov. 6 general election. The bond issue would permit the school board to borrow about $32 million to pay for the construction of a junior high school and the renovation of Frank Ohl Middle School.
The money donated by the education association was collected during a recent fund-raiser.
