Smiths observe golden event at dinner reception

COLUMBIANA -- Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, 121 Seventh St., were guests of honor during a dinner reception Sept. 22 at the Shangri La in Canfield celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Invitations were extended by the honorees' children and spouses, Alan and Sylvia Smith of Leetonia, Kathy and Kyle Alfriend of Dublin, Karl Smith of Salem, and Brad and Kim Smith of Lake Orion, Mich.
Mr. Smith and the former Alice Hiney exchanged marriage vows Sept. 15, 1951, at Bower Memorial Evangelical United Brethren Church in Berwick, Pa.
Mrs. Smith retired in 1991 after 34 years of service as a registered nurse in obstetrics and the newborn nursery at Salem Community Hospital.
Retiring in 1989, Mr. Smith was an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Co. in Youngstown. In 1964, he served as a past master of Allen Lodge 276, Free and Accepted Masons.
The family circle includes nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
