Self-guided tour planned in Cortland



Visitors will follow a mapped-out route to interesting home and historical sites.
CORTLAND -- Homes, havens and historical sites in the Cortland area will be open to visitors during the Viets Museum Fall Tour to be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.The self-guided tour will begin at Cortland-Bazetta Historical Museum's Viets House, 224 N. High St., where tickets for the event will be on sale for $10.
Following a tour of the museum, a restored 1876 farmhouse, participants will be given a map leading to the following tour sites:
UThe contemporary home of Parisa and Frank Gombarcik that overlooks Walnut Run Golf Course.
UThe Lake Vista retirement villa of Dorothy Klein.
UA new model home at Lake Vista, where a surprise is planned.
UThe circa 1875 home of Andrea and Douglas Hampton at the site of the former Cortland Monument Co., which the couple have restored and furnished with antiques.
UThe restored 1825 federal farmhouse of Eileen and Don Hazel.
UThe Bazetta-Cortland Historical Society's 1841 Opera House on Park Avenue.
UThe Lake Vista Clubhouse, where refreshments will be served and door prizes awarded at the end of the two-day tour.
Proceeds for the event will be used to maintain and improve the museum.
