Holiday decor extends to house shutters

First it was doors decorated like Christmas packages, then mailboxes gussied up with holiday coverings. Now your shutters can be dressed to celebrate the seasons, too.
A Maryland company called Exterior Home recently introduced Shutterwraps, vinyl coverings that attach to standard-size shutters with hook-and-loop tabs. They're initially being sold in fall and winter designs, including leaves, pumpkins, ghosts and four Christmas styles. The company intends to add designs.
The reusable wraps fit windows that are 36 to 60 inches tall and 12 to 16 inches wide.
They sell for $19.95 and may be ordered at (410) 285-1421 or at www.exteriorhome.com/ on the Web.
Step tote stows awaystuff stranded on stairs
The stuff that seems to turn our houses into upscale landfills -- shoes, books toys, and the like -- often ends up stacked on stairs, creating navigational hazards.
Why don't we just put it away in the proper place? Because we fear that if we do, we won't be able to find it when we need it, such as an umbrella on a rainy day.
Frontgate is selling a "step tote" designed to organize the items and keep them out of harm's way.
The tote fits on two steps and has a handle to move items easily in one trip. It is made of mahogany with lattice-weave side panels.
Price: $129. For more Information call (800) 626-6488.
