Airplane maintenance
IMPERIAL, Pa. (AP) -- US Airways plans to save cash and increase efficiency by moving major maintenance work on its narrow-body jets to Pittsburgh International Airport and wide-body maintenance to Charlotte, N.C.
Previously, most wide-body maintenance was done in Pittsburgh and narrow-body jets were serviced in Charlotte.
The move isn't expected to have a major affect on employment at either airport -- but it "leaves open" the question of whether the Pittsburgh airport will get a new maintenance facility to service the wide-body planes, including new Airbus A-330s, said US Airways spokesman Rick Weintraub.
