WESTERN PA. New Wilmington Greyhounds rush to 7th win



NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Behind a pair of running backs who had 100-yard rushing performances, Wilmington High School remained unbeaten as it upended Brookville 48-0 Friday night.
The Greyhounds (7-0), rated fifth in the Pennsylvania Class AAA football poll, were sparked by Brandon Whiting, who rushed for 140 yards on 10 carries, which included touchdown runs of 6, 44, 46 and 8 yards.
Matt Krawchyk carried the football six times for 115 yards, which included a 40-yard touchdown run. Brandon Boron tallied on 1- and 15-yard runs.
The Greyhounds' defense limited Brookville to 26 rushing yards and 74 passing yards.
Mohawk 31, Freedom 28: FREEDOM, Pa. -- Ryan Carr rushed for 169 yards and Mitch Gasperoni ran for 118 to lead the Warriors.
Carr's 98-yard run put Mohawk (4-3, 4-2 Mercer County Athletic Conference) ahead, 7-0. Travis Bessell scored from the 12 and Gasperoni from the 5 as Mohawk opened up a 24-7 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Matt Brown passed Freedom back into contention, connecting with Matt Bertile for touchdowns of 65 and 9 yards.
Gasperoni ran a kickoff back 70 yards to ice the victory.
Brown passed for 260 yards by completing 11-of-22 passes. Bertile caught eight of them for 148 yards and three touchdowns.
Reynolds 41, Mercer 6: MERCER, Pa. -- Deacon Jones carried 23 times for 231 yards and four touchdowns for the Raiders (6-1, 2-0 Mercer County Athletic Conference).
The Mustangs (0-7, 0-2) got on the board when Luke Erdos had a 14-yard touchdown dash. Erdos had 12 carries for 91 yards.
