Late rally lifts Lisbon over Southern



Matt Adams' score with 1:15 left gave the Blue Devils a 20-19 win.
SALINEVILLE -- The Lisbon High football team rallied for three touchdowns in the final seven minutes as the Blue Devils trimmed Southern Local 20-19 Friday in the Tri-County League.
Nate Jones scored a 7-yard touchdown and Jim Puckett had touchdown carries of 43 and 89 yards as the Indians (2-6, 1-4) took a 19-0 lead with eight minutes, 53 seconds remaining in the game.
Jay Yorty, who completed 8-of-25 passes for 139 yards for the Blue Devils (4-4, 3-2), found Jason Sweeny for a 37-yard touchdown to put Lisbon on the board.
Matt Adams then caught a 16-yard touchdown aerial from Yorty to narrow the gap to 19-14 and Adams scored a 1-yard touchdown with 1:15 remaining to complete the comeback.
Puckett had 28 carries for 258 yards.
United 40, Sebring 6: HANOVERTON -- Nick Johnson rambled for five touchdowns and rolled up 216 yards rushing to lead United to a romp over Sebring.
Johnson had a 55-yard scoring jaunt and the other scores came on runs of 5, 5, 6 and 4 yards. The final United score came on a 70-yard pass from Mitch Phillis to Jason Sidwell.
United (6-2, 3-2) had 374 total yards to just 65 for Sebring (0-7, 0-5), which scored on a 4-yard pass from David Dickens to Mike Woods in the final period.
East Palestine 30, Leetonia 13: EAST PALESTINE -- After Leetonia jumped out to a 7-0 lead, East Palestine answered with 24 points.
J.D. Powers of the Bulldogs (6-2, 4-1) gained 192 yards on 29 carries, which included a 9-yard touchdown run.
East Palestine quarterback Smitty Kendrew completed 9-of-18 passes for 116 yards and he connected with Chris Clark for a 29-yard touchdown. Kendrew also rushed for 138 yards on 12 carries, which included touchdown runs of 1 and 59 yards. He also completed a pass to Joe Rettic and also ran for a pair of two-point conversions.
Nick Mango of Leetonia (4-4, 1-4) carried the football 19 times for 132 yards.
Bears' quarterback Kevin Cibula scored on a 15-yard run and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Freddie Grey.
