AKRON -- The west terrace at Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens was the setting Sept. 14 as Jennifer Aldom and Kirk Poffenberger were united in marriage during a private outdoor ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mike and Karen Aldom, 1120 N. Lincoln Ave., Salem, and James and Lois Poffenberger, 3368 McCracken Road, Salem.
The Rev. Brian Jensen presided.
The couple were honored Sept. 15 during a reception held at the Saxon Club Pavilion in Salem.
The bride wore a white chiffon over satin gown embellished with Venise lace, bugle beads, sequins and pearls. It featured spaghetti straps, an empire waist, and a full skirt that flowed into a sweep train and was enhanced with fabric roses at the back waistline. She held a clutch bouquet of roses, berries and bird of paradise in jewel tones.
Serving as honor attendant was the bride's brother, James Aldom. The groom's father performed the duties of best man.
The bride graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is employed in the assembly department at the Lear Corp. in Lordstown.
The groom, a self-employed graphic designer and owner of Design Studio in Salem, graduated from YSU.
The couple honeymooned in San Francisco and the wine country of California.
They live in Salem.
