INSTALLATION Children's Aid society seats officers, honors members



MERCER, Pa. -- The installation of officers for the 2001-2002 season was the highlight of a meeting held by the Children's Aid Society Auxiliary of Mercer County on Sept. 11 at the agency.
Barbara Connelly, CAS treasurer, conducted the induction ceremony, and Carol Smith of Greenville, who has served the society through the auxiliary for 30 years, was seated as president.
Assuming the duties as her associate officers were Janice Johnson of Greenville, vice president; Darlene McBride of Brookfield, corresponding and public relations secretary; Catherine Young of Grove City, recording secretary; Ruby Gaiser of Greenville, treasurer; and Ruth Wingard and Julie Anholt, both of Mercer, historians. Serving as board representative will be Edith Myers of Sandy Lake.
Other business: The group recognized Janet Kerscher of Greenville, outgoing vice president, and Joan Foster of Grove City, outgoing treasurer, for their years of outstanding work on behalf of the auxiliary and agency.
Members were briefed on the fund-raising results of the May flower sale and July ice cream social. Proceeds from the events were used to purchase equipment and provide financial support for the agency's Parents Anonymous Program.
An update on new and ongoing projects was given by Wingard, and the group agreed to continue the sale of candy bars.
