PREP VOLLEYBALL Hubbard wraps up another TAC title



Boardman and Girard set school records for number of wins in a season -- 19 and 16, respectively.
HUBBARD -- Hubbard High's volleyball win streak keeps rolling along with no end in sight.
The Eagles defeated LaBrae 15-7, 15-12 Thursday to register their 134th straight Trumbull Athletic Conference win. Hubbard also wrapped up its ninth straight conference title.
Katy Jo Mroski had six kills and four blocks while Amanda Lingerfelter had 11 points with seven digs for the Eagles (21-1, 16-0 TAC). Amy Falhamer also had six kills while Courtney Hoch had six kills. Nyelia Page tacked on five kills and four blocks while Jessica Forrester had six digs and five points.
Amanda Gordon of LaBrae (8-13, 5-11) had eight kills while Amber Dietelbach had 18 assists.
Brookfield 15-15, Newton Falls 10-8: NEWTON FALLS -- Kayla Haun led the Warriors (11-9, 10-6 TAC) with seven points and seven kills. Jessica Zebroski had 23 digs and five kills. Karey Gibson had 13 assists.
Jessi Garret led the Tigers (6-14, 5-11) with seven points and five saves. Lora Mason, Allison Huber, Megan McElravy and Ashley Shaver all had nine digs. Sarah Prokop and Huber had three kills.
Girard 15-15, Lakeview 5-11: GIRARD -- The Indians (16-6, 12-4 TAC) set a school record for wins. Katie Vesely led the Indians with 12 kills, 12 digs and scored five points. Tealle Hunkus had 16 kills and eight blocks and Jamie Baxter scored seven points.
Jenna Boazzo paced the Bulldogs (15-6, 12-4) with five points and 11 assists, while Whitney Keyser had 11 digs.
Champion 15-15, Liberty 7-12: WARREN -- Michelle Canatsey had 10 points and five aces while Rosie Holmes tacked on six points with two aces for the Flashes (13-6, 10-6 TAC).
Sarah Walters led the Leopards with six kills.
Boardman 15-15, Ursuline 0-1: BOARDMAN -- Boardman (19-3, 6-2 Steel Valley Conference) set a school record for wins.
Mara Capraruolo led the Spartans four points, six kills and two blocks. Claire Selius had seven points and two aces, and Jen Feret added five points, three kills and two digs.
Rachel Evans led the Irish with four digs.
Fitch 15-15, Warren Harding 0-0: AUSTINTOWN -- Sara Miller collected nine points and three aces while Maggie Case had eight points, six kills, a block, two digs and three aces for the Falcons (18-3, 8-0 SVC). Ashlee Lemke tacked on five points, five kills, a block and a dig while Megan Casey had two kills.
Springfield 15-9-15, Jackson-Milton 7-15-6: NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Meghan Louttit scored 12 points, with 32 assists and four aces to spark the Tigers (18-4, 8-4 Inter-County League). Brooke Tabaka had nine kills, three blocks and two points and Maggie Marsh had eight points, seven kills and a block.
Jessica Hemphill paced the Bluejays (12-7, 8-4) with 12 kills. Desra Tomaino had seven kills and 11 blocks.
Mineral Ridge 15-13-15, Western Reserve 12-15-8: MINERAL RIDGE -- Tiffany Hack had 15 points, two aces, 12 kills and three blocks while Sarah Gerberry had 12 points, three aces and seven kills for the Rams (14-6, 9-2 ICL). Rachel McCammon had nine points and five aces while Anna Marie Riccardi had 12 blocks for the Blue Devils (6-12, 2-9).
Bristol 15-15, Pymatuning Valley 2-6: BRISTOLVILLE -- Jamie Maraczi had five aces and nine points while Katie Casserlie had seven points, four kills, three saves and a block for the Panthers (11-7).
West Branch 15-8-15, Akron Springfield 0-15-12: BELOIT -- Jen Griffith had 17 assists, 10 points, 11 passes, two digs and a kill while Amber Metzgar had eight assists, nine points, 14 passes and 12 kills for the Warriors (10-12).
