Concert to boost community spirit

SHARON, Pa. -- The Lettermen will headline a "Celebrate America" concert set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 on West State Street.
The goal is to raise the spirits of the community after the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., and to bring out as much patriotism as possible, said James E. Winner Jr., whose store, The Winner, is helping to underwrite the expense.
The program is free to the public and will honor all police and firefighters in Mercer County, Winner said.
The same stage used in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame & amp; Museum post-induction ceremony concert last week will be brought back for this concert and set up in the 100 block of West State Street, Winner said.
Those coming to the concert are advised to bring their own chairs. Seating will be provided for the police and firefighters.
In addition to The Lettermen, Mary Wilson of The Supremes will be on hand to sing the national anthem.
Winner said the concert should last about two hours.
