Women's soccerteam shut out
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Amy Oechsner scored two goals to lead the Panthers to a 5-0 victory over the Youngstown State women's soccer team Sunday.
Oechsner scored the first goal of the match with seven minutes elapsed on an assist by Katie Kubacki.
YSU was out-shot 35-1 and out-cornered 10-1. Senior Christine Handte had 14 saves for the Penguins.

Fitch wins two
AUSTINTOWN -- The Fitch High volleyball team added two wins Saturday in the Falcon Quad to improve its record to 16-3.
The Falcons defeated Indian Creek 15-7, 15-7 and St. Joseph Academy 15-6, 15-8.
Against Indian Creek (13-5), Jessica DiCarlo had seven points, four assists, seven kills, seven digs, a block and an ace, while Maggie Case contributed seven points, seven kills, 12 digs, two blocks and two aces and Stacie Mang six points, 20 assists, one kill, seven digs and three aces.
Against St. Joseph Academy (14-7), Mang had eight points, 20 assists, five digs and five aces, while Case had eight points, 11 kills, 14 digs, four blocks and two aces and DiCarlo seven points, six kills, four assists, 11 digs and a block.
Fonderlac teamties for 13th
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- A team from Fonderlac Country Club fired a gross 59 in the final round of the 2001 Oldsmobile Scramble National Finals Sunday at Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., for a final round 234 and tied for 13th.
Consisting of PGA Professional Scott Karabin and amateurs Don Kinska, Alice Porter, Joe Valentini and Tom Onesti, Fonderlac Country Club completed its final round with a 58.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- David Toms overcame a late challenge by Kirk Triplett (66) to shoot a 3-under-par 68 for a 15-under 269 total, defending his Michelob Championship title by one shot. The victory was the PGA champion's third this year and the seventh of his career.

VALLEJO, Calif. -- Hometown favorite Dorothy Delasin beat Karrie Webb and Se Ri Pak by four strokes to win the Samsung World Championship. Delasin shot a 3-under 69 in the final round for a 277 total. Pak and Webb both carded even-par 72s, finishing at 281.

KAHUKU, Hawaii -- Hale Irwin shot a 4-under-par 68 to hold off John Jacobs (69) by three strokes and capture the inaugural Turtle Bay Championship.
Irwin finished the 54-hole event with an 11-under 205 to win his third tournament of the Senior PGA Tour season, pushing his tour-record total to 32.
De Ferran leadsfrom start to finish
HOUSTON -- Gil de Ferran led all 100 laps and took the lead in the CART FedEx Series championship with his victory in the Texaco/Havoline Grand Prix of Houston.
The win, de Ferran's second straight, combined with a seventh-place finish by Kenny Brack, turned a five-point deficit into a 10-point de Ferran lead, with three races and a maximum of 66 points remaining this season.

Kafelnikov winsKremlin Cup again
MOSCOW -- Top-seeded Yevgeny Kafelnikov won his fifth consecutive Kremlin Cup, beating Nicolas Kiefer 6-4, 7-5. Fifth-seeded Jelena Dokic defeated eighth-seeded Elena Dementieva 6-3, 6-3 to win the women's title in the $2.2 million event.
Kafelnikov became only the third player in the Open era to win the same tournament five times in a row. Dokic won the third title of her career, all this season.
Hewitt is champ
TOKYO -- U.S. Open champion Lleyton Hewitt beat Michel Kratochvil 6-4, 6-2 to win the men's title at the Japan Open.
Top-seeded Monica Seles beat second-seeded Tamarine Tanasugarn 6-3, 6-2 for the women's championship and her 50th WTA Tour singles crown.
