Vindicator, WFMJ-TV plan tribute to heroes

The November event will be a parade.
Hundreds of Mahoning Valley firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians and veterans are being invited to participate in a parade to pay tribute to the victims and heroes of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
"The Valley's Tribute to American Heroes: A Red, White & amp; Blue Parade," presented by The Vindicator and WFMJ-TV, will begin at 10 a.m. Nov. 10 on Market Street in Boardman.
"The Vindicator is pleased to join with WFMJ-TV, which will televise the parade live for those unable to attend the event, the Cumulus Broadcasting stations of K105, Y103 and HOT 101, and The DeBartolo Corp. in organizing this event, which we believe will be one that people will remember for many years to come," said Betty Jagnow, Vindicator publisher.
The Cumulus stations and The DeBartolo Corp. are sponsoring the event, and the St. Patrick's Day Parade committee, chaired by Tim Mulholland, is organizing it and working to ensure its smooth-running success.
"The parade will provide Mahoning Valley residents with an opportunity to come together in a bond of patriotism and appreciation for all those who have already and will put their lives on the line for our protection," Jagnow said. "We want to honor firefighters, police officers, military personnel, veterans and emergency medical personnel. It is our hope that Valley residents will come out to view this parade and wear their red, white and blue to show their support."
Parade route: The parade will start at Nisonger Drive and proceed south on Market Street to the Boardman Township Administration Building.
In addition to firetrucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles, it will feature area high school marching bands as well as Red Cross and Salvation Army staff members and volunteers and military personnel, past and present.
WFMJ Channel 21's live broadcast will start at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10 and will be rebroadcast at 11:30 p.m. Nov. 11.
