YOUNGSTOWN -- Nuptial vows were exchanged at 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church as Melissa Balata and Jay Macejko were united in marriage by Monsignor Michael Cariglio.
The daughter of Kenneth Balata and Marianne Balata, both of Euclid, and son of Joseph and Ruby Macejko of Poland accepted congratulations during a reception at The Embassy before leaving on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean. They live in Boardman.
The bride wore a sleeveless white satin A-line gown embellished with pearl beading and featuring a chapel train.
Bordeaux-colored gowns were worn by Michelle Johnson, the honor attendant, and the bridesmaids, Angela Ugran, Jill Carroll, Robin Valentino, and the groom's sister, Andrea Macejko. Flower girl was Savanah Serich.
Best man was Anthony Valentino, and groomsmen were Jim Stallsmith, Donald Steward, Rich Steward, and the groom's brother, Drew Macejko. Ring bearer was the bride's godson, Cody Norsic, and ushers were the bride's brother, Kevin Balata; Jeff Clarke; Mark Lavelle; and Mike Maillis.
The bride, a sole-practitioner with the Law Office of Melissa Macejko, graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree and earned her juris doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law.
The groom graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor's degree and received his juris doctorate from the University of Akron School of Law. He is an assistant prosecutor with the Mahoning County Prosecutor's Office.
