ELLSWORTH -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of an accident that killed a Leetonia man on state Route 45 a mile north of U.S. Route 224. Killed in the crash Friday night was Jon J. Lopac III, 26, of St. Jacobs-Logtown Road, who was driving a northbound car that collided head-on with a southbound sport utility vehicle driven by Mark S. Wertz, 49, of Calla Road, Canfield, at 11:47 p.m., the patrol said.
Lopec, who did not wear his seat belt, was partially ejected through the windshield. Wertz, who wore his seat belt, was not injured.
Domestic terrorism talkoffered at library
WARREN -- A program on domestic terrorism will be presented at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library branch on Mahoning Avenue N.W. at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Lead speaker Paul Minton, emergency medical service coordinator for St. Joseph Health Center, will be joined during a question period by Linda Beil, director of the Trumbull County Emergency Management Agency, and Lt. William Thompson, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol post at Southington.
Meet the candidates
KINSMAN -- The annual "meet the candidates night" will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Kinsman Fire Hall on Ridge Road.
Refreshments will be served.

Halloween party
GIRARD -- St. Rose Church Youth Ministry and Girard Fraternal Order of Police are sponsoring a Halloween party from 11 a.m. to noon Oct. 27 in the St. Rose School gym for area children in grades 7-12.
Teen members of the youth ministry are donating candy and will decorate the gym and act as hosts for the party.
There will be prizes, treats and music by the Girard High School Band.

POLAND -- The Democrats of the 17th District, a Mahoning Valley political organization, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Poland Community Baseball Association hall on Sheridan Road.
Cemetery cleanup
EAST PALESTINE -- All flowers and decorations at Glenview Cemetery, South Market Street, must be removed by Oct. 15 or they will be discarded, cemetery officials said.

Pumpkin festival
YOUNGSTOWN -- Four Seasons Flea & amp; Farm Market, 3000 McCartney Road, is sponsoring a pumpkin festival and Halloween costume contest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday for children ages 6-12.
They will receive free pumpkins and there also will be a prize drawing, treats, doughnuts and cider.
The costume contest will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 14 for children in that same age group.
