BOARDMAN Hispanic group will observe 29th anniversary at dinner



OCCHA will honor four people for contributions to the organization and the Hispanic community.
BOARDMAN -- Organizacion Civica y Cultural Hispana Americana, the primary social service agency in Youngstown that caters to the specific needs of the area's Hispanic community, will celebrate its 29th anniversary with a dinner and fund-raiser Oct. 26 at Antone's Banquet Center, 8578 Market St.
The event will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and an awards presentation. Tickets are $30 per person and must be purchased by Oct. 19 by calling (330) 744-1808.
This year's mistress of ceremonies is Rita Lopez, administrator-nurse manager, Blood & amp; Cancer Center, located on Boardman-Canfield Road.
OCCHA's 2001 awardees are: Iris P. Crespo, outstanding volunteer; Reynaldo Esparra, special recognition; Florencio Vega, Hispanic businessperson of the year; and Nancy Crespo, OCCHA Academic Achievement Award.
The members of the dinner committee are chairwoman, Rosa Tirado; co-chairwoman, Elba Navarro; and ad book coordinator, Judy Solomon.
Committee members are Juanita Rodriquez, Hector Colon, Benito Velazquez, Liz Lopez, Fran Wilson, Mary Ann Navarro, Porfirio Esparra Sr., Antoina Caraballo and Mildred C. Montalvo.
Entertainment will be provided by Roberto Ocasio and his Latin band and D.J. Chico. There also will be Chinese and silent auctions.
