SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- New Castle City Rescue Mission, Feed My Sheep Food Bank in Slippery Rock, and Butler County Area Agency on Aging will benefit from this year's Empty Bowls dinner sponsored by Slippery Rock University's Institute for Community, Service Learning and Nonprofit Leadership. The Oct. 15 event will offer seatings at 4 and 5 p.m. in the multipurpose room of the University Union. Those attending eat a meal of hearty soup in a handcrafted bowl, which they take home as a reminder of hunger in the world. Tickets are available from room 214 of Spotts World Culture Building, the SGA Bookstore, campus residence halls, Slippery Rock's True-Value Hardware and Kimberly's Image Consultants, or at the door. Cost is $5 for students, $10 for the public.
