HERMITAGE, Pa. -- A Hawaiian luau reception followed the Sept. 1 wedding of Shannon Elizabeth Merrick, 8107 Addison Road, Masury, and David Kowacich, 224 Christian Ave., Hubbard.
The ceremony took place at 4 p.m. at the home of the bride's grandmother, Winona Kulnis, 2024 Parkdale Ave., Hermitage, Pa. Thomas Stanton, mayor of Wheatland, Pa., officiated. A reception followed there.
The bride is a daughter of Mary Beth Cunningham of the Addison Road address and Jody R. and Beth Merrick, 139 S. Seventh St., Sharpsville, Pa. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. David R. Kowacich of the Christian Avenue address.
Mrs. Kowacich works in customer service at Truck World News, Hubbard, and Busy Bees Cleaning Service, Masury.
The groom is a lance corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps and is stationed at Camp Pendelton, Calif.
Danielle Bader of Youngstown was honor attendant. She wore a Hawaiian print dress.
Performing the duties of best man was Daniel Sinclair of Struthers.
The bride wore an ivory gown styled with an empire waist, brocade bodice and crepe and chiffon flowing skirt. Rosebuds accented the spaghetti straps and waistline of the gown. She wore a baby rosebud halo headpiece.
The newlyweds honeymooned in Niagara Falls, Canada. They will live at Camp Pendelton.
