YOUNGSTOWN -- Applications for Christmas assistance are available at the Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 15-17 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 19.
Mahoning County applicants must bring photo identification, Social Security cards for children in the household 13 and older, Aid to Dependent Children cards, birth certificates for children not on ADC, proof of income or medical card, and proof of child custody. Festival of Bands
SALEM -- Salem Area Festival of Bands will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at Reilly Stadium. The event will feature high school marching bands from Salem, East Palestine, Leetonia, Lisbon, West Branch, United and Warren G. Harding. Cost is $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and children under 12.
Homeowners' seminar
YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown Area Urban League will have a home-ownership seminar for first-time home buyers and current homeowners at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Richard Brown Memorial United Methodist Church, 1205 Elm St. The seminar is designed to educate first-time home buyers in the process of buying or renovating a home and to understand the various facets of lending.
