Liberty student to attend youth leadership conference

LIBERTY -- Ashley Caffey, a 17-year-old Liberty High School senior, has been selected to attend the Congressional Youth Leadership Council's National Young Leaders Conference Oct. 16-21 in Washington, D.C.
Ashley, of Green Acres Drive, is among 350 high school students nationwide to attend the conference. The students were selected for their leadership potential and scholastic merit.
The conference, called Leaders of Tomorrow Meeting the Leaders of Today, allows students to interact with key leaders and newsmakers in government, the national press and the diplomatic corps.
The students will receive welcoming remarks from the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, participate in a panel discussion with journalists at the National Press Club and participate in a number of leadership skill-building activities. The program culminates with the Model Congress, in which participants assume the roles of U.S. representatives and debate, amend and vote on proposed legislation.
The leadership council is a nonprofit education organization that promotes youth leadership.
