VOLLEYBALL Hubbard's Chuck Montgomery earns 499th coaching victory

HUBBARD -- Hubbard High volleyball coach Chuck Montgomery won the 499th match of his career Thursday as the Eagles defeated Champion 15-2, 15-5, in a Trumbull Athletic Conference match.
The Eagles (18-1, 13-0 TAC) have won 131 consecutive conference matches, with their only loss this season coming against Austintown Fitch.
Katy Jo Mroski had 17 kills and five blocks while Amy Falhammer had 10 kills and 10 digs for the Eagles. Nicole Pringle added 16 assists, eight points and four aces, Amanda Lingenfelter had 11 digs and Tracy Hassell had 15 assists and four blocks.
Mary Ann Canetsey led Champion (11-5, 8-5) with seven kills, Hillary Pegg had three kills and Rosie Holmes made 12 assists.
Brookfield 15-15, LaBrae 9-8: LEAVITTSBURG -- Jen Foro had seven points and two aces while Juli Alter had six points and an ace to lead Brookfield.
Jessica Zebroski had nine kills and 12 digs, Carisy Gibson had 14 assists and Regina Deramo had eight assists and 11 digs for Brookfield (9-8, 8-5 TAC).
Ashley Alexander had five points, Kelly Blazsek had five points, Amanda Gordon had 12 kills and six blocks and Amber Dietelbach had 21 assists for LaBrae (8-10, 5-8).
Newton Falls 15-15, Liberty 10-11: NEWTON FALLS -- Lora Mason had seven points with two aces while Allison Huber had six kills and two aces for Newton Falls.
Megan McElravy had four blocks, Ashley Shaver had six digs and nine assists, and Jesse Garretson had nine assists for the Tigers (5-14).
For Liberty (4-12), Farah Rivello scored five points. Sarah Walters had two kills and two blocks while Ashley Caffey had seven digs and 22 assists.
Warren Harding 15-15, Mooney 12-11: WARREN -- Ashley Johnson had 15 points, three aces and three digs for Warren Harding.
Johnna Simon had five kills and Lindsey Komora had seven assists for the Raiders (11-8).
For Mooney (2-12), Wendy Jackson had nine points and 10 assists, and Aieshya Dixon had nine kills and three blocks.
Poland 15-15, Howland 7-9: POLAND -- Steffi Graf had 14 kills, three points and four digs for Poland.
Kristen Stanyard had 16 assists, eight points and 10 digs and Lori Delsignore had 13 points and four digs for the Bulldogs (11-8, 6-2 Metro Athletic Conference).
Howland's Bronwyn Salo had four points and two aces. Jaime Kelly had three kills, and Justine Wisniewski had four digs for the Tigers (8-9, 2-6).
Salem 15-15, Niles 0-11: SALEM -- Lauren Teal had eight kills and one tip for Salem (13-7, 8-0 MAC).
Kelli Crouse had five aces and four kills, and Taylor Hendricks had three aces and five kills as the Quakers clinched a tie for the MAC title.
For Niles (9-11, 2-5), Joanne Johnson had four kills and two aces, Nikki Trautman had four aces and Danielle Durig had four kills.
Springfield 15-15, Mathews 1-13: VIENNA -- Heather Snyder had 12 points and an ace and Meghan Louttit had eight points and 20 assists for Springfield.
Brooke Tabaka had six points, four kills and two aces, Maggie Marsh had seven kills and Meghan Wood had six kills for the Tigers (16-3, 7-3 Inter-County League).
East Palestine 15-15, Crestview 11-6: EAST PALESTINE -- Samantha McKay had nine points, four kills and 12 spikes to lead East Palestine.
Jackie Valingo added eight kills, eight spikes and four blocks. Bree Sugar had three kills, 12 spikes and eight points for the Bulldogs (4-12, 4-8 Tri-County League).
Erin Mellinger led Crestview with 12 assists and five points and Kelly Simmons added four points and two aces.
Maplewood 15-15, Ashtabula Sts. John and Paul: MAPLEWOOD -- For Maplewood, Toni Darocha had 10 points and 20 assists, Christen Clemson had 12 kills and Laura Finch had six points and two blocks.
Maplewood (18-2, 14-0) won its 78th straight East Suburban Conference match.
Kelly Tinney had 14 kills for Ashtabula SJP (14-3, 12-2).
Minerva 15-15, West Branch 12-13: MINERVA -- Jen Griffith had five points, two kills, nine assists and six digs for West Branch.
Amy Beth Edie had six points and 13 digs and Jen Weingart had six kills and five digs for the Warriors (9-11).
