SHARON Jeep driver jailed after crash injures female passenger

SHARON, Pa. -- A Farrell man was in jail and a Hermitage woman was hospitalized today after a one-vehicle accident on South Dock Street early Thursday.
Police said Christina Stowe, 38, of Donald Road, Hermitage, was a passenger in a Jeep driven by Devon A. Campbell, 28, of Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, that went out of control and slammed into a steel pole just north of Budd Street around 2:45 a.m.
The impact threw Stowe from the vehicle and she suffered head injuries, police said. She was in stable condition this morning in Sharon Regional Health System.
Police charged Campbell with driving under the influence, aggravated assault by motor vehicle and careless driving. He was in Mercer County Jail this morning with bond set at $5,000.
Police said a second man who gave investigating officers false information about the accident was also arrested.
Ryan Platteborze, 28, of Emerson Avenue, Farrell, was a witness to the accident and gave several conflicting reports about what had happened in an apparent attempt to keep Campbell from being arrested, police said.
Platteborze was charged with obstructing the administration of law, hindering apprehension, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, police said. He was freed after posting $5,000 bond.
