Man pleads innocentto murder charges
WARREN -- A 24-year-old Girard man has pleaded innocent to charges of murder, felonious assault and endangering children.
Bobby Lee Craven of Trumbull Avenue entered the pleas Thursday at his arraignment in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Craven is being held in the county jail and is to return to court Oct. 25. His bond is set at $500,000.
In an indictment issued this week by a grand jury, Craven is accused of causing the death of his 20-month-old son, Brandon, on Sept. 19.
Authorities also say that Craven caused serious physical harm to Brandon on Sept. 17, and endangered the lives of Brandon and his 3-year-old brother, Robert, on Sept. 14.
Although the indictment is not specific, Girard police say Craven beat both boys.
2 Trumbull menarrested in theft
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Two Trumbull County men face charges of theft from a motor vehicle in Lawrence County.
Jeremy Scott Muirhead, 19, of Addison Road, Masury, and Kyle Raymond Wilford, 18, of Warren Sharon Road, Brookfield, were arrested Thursday after a resident of Westview Road in Union Township reported that someone was rifling through his wife's car about 4:30 a.m.
Pennsylvania State Police said Muirhead and Wilford gave written statements before being arraigned and released.
Girard school board
GIRARD -- The board of education will meet Tuesday at 6:30 in Prospect School cafeteria. Several board members were unable to make the Oct. 16 meeting.
Girard High Schooloffers computer classes
GIRARD -- Girard High School is offering a computer class to Girard residents.
Classes in Excel and Power Point will be conducted from 4:30 to 6:30, and a class for PC beginners will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on successive Mondays: Oct. 8, 15, 22, 29; Nov. 5, 12 and 19.

Parents, teachers meet
KINSMAN -- Badger High School will have parent-teacher conferences Wednesday from 2:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Appointments are not necessary, but can be made by calling the high school between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Road closing
HARTFORD -- State Route 305 will be closed at a railroad crossing between state routes 193 and 7 from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21 for road work.
Salem pupil chargedin school gun threat
SALEM -- A Perry Township girl is accused of threatening to bring a gun to Prospect Elementary School and shoot someone.
The 12-year-old sixth-grader made the threat in class Sept. 28, after which the school removed her and called police.
It's unclear what prompted the remark. Police determined the girl had no firearm, nor access to one.
Police filed a juvenile charge of inducing panic Thursday in Columbiana County Juvenile Court.
Aside from a court-imposed punishment, she also could be disciplined by the school district, authorities said.
Teen with gunrobs two women
YOUNGSTOWN -- Two 42-year-old Boardman women told police they were robbed at gunpoint in a rear lot at St. Patrick Church on Oak Hill Avenue by a boy about 15 years old.
The woman said they were sitting in a car about 7 p.m. Thursday when the teen approached with a handgun and said they had five seconds to open the trunk or he would shoot, police reports show.
The passenger screamed and fled, while the driver opened the trunk, from which the robber took both women's purses.
The women said they had seen the robber walking nearby when they were putting the purses in the trunk.
The purses contained credit cards, driver licenses, checkbooks and medication and about $15 total cash.
Riders rob driver
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 77-year-old Lisbon man has reported to police that he was robbed by two women he had given a ride.
The man said he was driving at about 2 p.m. Monday when one woman threw a wet substance in his face and grabbed him as the other struck his head with a hard object. They then fled with his wallet and keys. He was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
One woman is described as being in her 20s.
