INSTALLATION Gluck assumes second term as Kiwanis Club president
YOUNGSTOWN -- Ed Gluck of Boardman was inducted president of the Kiwanis Club of Youngstown during installation ceremonies Sept. 28 at the downtown YMCA.
This is the first time in the 85-year history of the Kiwanis Club of Youngstown that a president has been elected to serve a second term. Gluck, a 34-year member and retiree of L. Calvin Jones and Co., also served as president during the 1978-79 year.
Associates: Other officers are Barbara Smith of Girard, president-elect; Michele Merkel of Warren, vice president; Mark Kholos of Salem, secretary-treasurer; Karen Cohen of Warren, assistant treasurer; Bill Buchman of Youngstown, assistant secretary; Joseph Bratek of Campbell, administrative secretary; and Charles Whitman of Boardman, immediate past president.
Named to the club's board of directors were Art Lewis, Gary Osborne and Ron Smrek.
George Yates, lieutenant governor for District 21 of Kiwanis, conducted the installation.
The downtown Kiwanis Club was established in 1916 as the 15th club of Kiwanis International. "We Build" is the motto. The group raises thousands of dollars to benefit local service and youth organizations. Club members have opportunities for community service, business networking, leadership roles and social activities.
The club meets at noon Fridays at the YMCA. New members are welcome.
