FARRELL, PA. Police discover identity of man who was shot

Police said the victim had a loaded handgun in his waistband when he was shot.
FARRELL, Pa. -- Police said they now know the identity of a man gunned down on Fruit Avenue late Wednesday but they don't know who shot him or why.
The victim was identified as Rasceo A. Riley, 30, who was believed to be staying at 218 Fruit Ave.
Riley is of Jamaican descent and was living in Brooklyn before coming here, police said.
He had been in the city for at least the past three months, but authorities don't believe he was working anywhere in the area, said Police Chief Joseph Timko.
There were apparently no witnesses to the shooting, Timko said, noting that neighbors heard the shots and came outside and found Riley lying on the sidewalk in front of his residence.
J. Bradley McGonigle, Mercer County coroner, said the death has been ruled a homicide. He said this morning that an autopsy showed that Riley died of a single gunshot wound to the head. Police said they found four .45-caliber shell casings at the scene.
Had gun: Riley had a loaded 9 mm handgun tucked in his waistband when he was shot, Timko said.
Police had a difficult time identifying him.
He had no identification or money on him when he was found. Neighbors knew him only by his street name, Angel, and most didn't know where he was staying.
"Everybody knows the guy but just by sight, not by name or reputation," Timko said.
Police have no motive for the shooting at this point nor do they have any specific suspects, Timko said, noting police had no previous contact with him.
