AUTHORIZED
The board of control to: approve and pay city employees the difference between their salary and their military pay if they are reservists or National Guard members who are called to active duty. The city also will continue health and life insurance for the dependents of the employees; negotiate an agreement with Mahoning County to redevelop the city hall annex for the 7th District Court of Appeals. There is no firm plan yet to talk about, however; advertise for bids and award contracts to the lowest and best bidder for health insurance for city workers and for liability and casualty insurance for the city.
APPROVED
Resolutions: supporting the 15-year, 1.75-mill operating levy on the November ballot for Mill Creek Metro Parks, which replaces a 15-year, 1.9 mill operating levy passed in 1988; urging passage of the Ohio prescription drug fair-pricing act; encouraging Ohio Edison to let the city use its utility poles to display U.S. flags downtown.
AMENDED
City law on garbage cans to say that cans can't be put to the curb more than 12 hours before collection. They must be moved within 24 hours after collection;' City law to add street department managers to the list of officials who are paid $90.35 each week they are required to be on call.
