CAMPBELL
City council approved, at the request of the board of education, switching no parking signs from the south to the north sides of Blossom and Porter avenues, from 6th to 12th streets. Mayor John Dill said the request was made so vehicles would be parked facing away from the proposed school, rather than toward it, in an effort to divert traffic from the building, which is scheduled to open December 2002.
CANFIELD
City council unanimously passed resolutions Wednesday in support of the 1.75-mill, 15-year Mill Creek MetroParks replacement levy on the Nov. 6 ballot and of the relocation of U.S. Route 62. Under the planned $90 million road construction project, Route 62 would be relocated from state Route 225 north of Alliance to state Route 11 in Beaver Township, removing it from its current path through the local streets of Canfield and thereby reducing truck traffic through the city.
Council also heard City Manager Charles Tieche announce that Wednesday's paving job nearly completes the widening project on East Main Street. He thanked motorists for their patience during the widening and announced that curbside leaf pickup begins Monday and continues through Nov. 15.
