Weather radiofrequency changes
YOUNGSTOWN -- The National Weather Service changed the frequency of its Youngstown NOAA Weather Radio this week because of the increased number of new weather radio transmitters in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The frequency was changed from 162.525 MHz to 162.500 MHz.
Weather service officials said the alteration would not change the 24-hour service offered to Mahoning Valley residents since December 2000. Officials said the change is part of a program to increase coverage of such radio transmitters to 95 percent of the U.S. population by 2005.
