SUGGESTIONS Workplace activities

Partners for Workplace Diversity, an alliance of local businesses and organizations, has assembled a list of suggestions employers could use to encourage diversity in the workplace. More details are available at the partners Web site, www.cc.ysu.edu/diversity/mframe.htm.
Promote the success of the company's diversity efforts in the company newsletter.
Salute employees, customers and or partners in business through newspaper or newsletter.
Create displays that feature the heritages of customers and employees.
Create a mosaic or collage featuring the individual talents and values of employees, customers and others as company assets.
Develop a shadowing program to allow employees or future employees to learn work activities of others in the work process.
Create meals and other opportunities to celebrate heritage traditions, including information about values.
Provide occasions to discuss how diversity among customers, employees and partners in business is relevant to the company's mission.
