PREP VOLLEYBALL Springfield gains ICL win against Mathews; Maplewood now 16-2

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Brooke Tabaka collected nine points and two kills while Jessica Snyder was in with seven points and three aces as the Springfield High volleyball team defeated Mathews, 15-7, 15-11 in the Inter-County League Monday.
Maggie Marsh also had five kills for the Tigers (13-3, 6-3) who have won three in a row.
Lena Dascenzo had six points while Jaci Bahrey had four kills and four blocks for the Mustangs (5-5, 2-5).
Maplewood 15-15, Bloomfield 7-6: NORTH BLOOMFIELD -- Joni Shelton had nine points while Toni Darocha had 22 assists for the Rockets. Christin Clemson added 12 kills and two blocks for the Rockets (16-2, 12-0 East Suburban Conference). Jamie Sly had four points and Christy Gwinn had three points, two kills and four blocks for the Cardinals (8-5, 8-4).
Champion 15-15, Wilson 6-3: NEWTON FALLS -- Michelle Canatsey had 12 points with eight aces and Velda Morrison added eight points with three aces for the Golden Flashes (10-4). Hillary Pegg added six kills and Rosie Holmes had 15 assists. Jessica Martinez and Partizia Stoehr each scored three points for the Redmen (3-14).
South Range 15-15, Poland 9-13: POLAND -- Becky Skowron had 18 points, four aces and 10 assists while Kelly James added three points, 15 digs and three kills for the Raiders (11-3). Tracey Toy had three points, five digs and seven kills for South Range. Lori DelSignore led the Bulldogs with seven points and seven digs while Raeanne Coppola had six digs and five kills for Poland (10-7).
Ashtabula SJP 15-15, Bristol 8-8: BRISTOLVILLE -- Katie Casserlie had two kills and three saves while Ashley Rasmussen had three assists for the Panthers.
Lowellville 15-15, Western Reserve 11-9: BERLIN CENTER -- Danielle Hvisdak had seven kills while Christa Flora tacked on nine points, four digs and four kills for the Rockets. Molly Macejko had seven points with three blocks and Tami Nero had 10 assists for the Rockets (2-10 Inter-County League). Theresa Polack had 32 digs, eight kills and a block while Rachel McCammon had two points and 19 digs for the Blue Devils (5-9, 1-6). Anna Marie Ricciardi had 18 digs and five kills for Western Reserve.
