Cops say double slayingwas a murder-suicide
EAST LIVERPOOL -- Two people are dead after a shooting at a private club.
City police were called to the Orioles Club, 622 Dresden Ave., about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, where they found Donald Ingram, age unavailable, and Melissa Bishop, 39, both of East Liverpool, on the floor in the bar area with gunshot wounds to the head.
Bishop was dead at the scene. Ingram was taken to Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, where he died several hours later.
Police said Ingram apparently shot Bishop, a former girlfriend, and then shot himself. A .32-caliber revolver was found at the scene.
Police today refused to answer any questions or release further information about the matter.
Outlet shop reportstheft of sweaters
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police said someone walked off with 48 women's sweaters from the Tommy Hilfiger outlet in the Prime Outlet factory shops complex in Springfield Township between 4 and 7 p.m.. Saturday.
Store personnel said they don't know how they were taken.
They said the sweaters were there around 4 p.m. but disappeared three hours later, police said.
Nurse-midwife program

Child-seat safety check
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police will conduct a child-seat installation and safety check from noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the New Castle station, Wilmington Road, Neshannock Township.
People are asked to bring the vehicle owner's manual, child car seat and instructions, towels and the child.
Police say 80 percent of all child car seats are improperly installed.
Westminster forumto focus on mummy
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Dr. Sam Farmerie, curator of cultural artifacts at Westminster College, will present "What Happened to the Mummy?" at faculty forum at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in 311 Patterson Hall.
Farmerie's talk will focus on the legend of and moving of Pesed, an Egyptian mummy who has been at Westminster College since 1885, but now is in Harrisburg for a museum exhibit. The talk is free and open to the public.
Scam artists hit eatery
SHARON, Pa. -- Police said a pair of quick-change artists were able to take about $100 from a counter clerk at McDonald's Restaurant at 67 W. State St. around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Police said the pair ordered a double cheeseburger and paid for it with a $10 bill but than changed their order and started a series of monetary exchanges that left the cash register $100 short.
They were described as a black man with short hair, about 32 years old and 6 feet tall, weighing about 160 pounds, and a black woman about 30 with her hair in a ponytail, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds.
Jewelry, cash stolen
SHARON, Pa. -- A Third Avenue woman reported someone kicked in her door while she was away Saturday night and took jewelry and cash. The victim told police she left home at 8 p.m. Saturday and returned at 4 a.m. Sunday. A 20-inch gold rope chain and $400 were missing, she said.
Arson destroys trucks
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the arson fires that destroyed two trucks owned by Cemex Inc. in Wayne Township, Lawrence County. The trucks were set on fire sometime between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 6:45 a.m. Sunday in a strip mine off of Tony Ditko Road in Wayne Township.
Knife-throwing charges
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- A 31-year-old man is accused of throwing a hunting knife and injuring the foot of a 12-year-old boy. Charles Wayne Jones of Mohawk School Road, New Castle, faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person. He was arrested at 6:35 p.m. Saturday, police said. Jones was arraigned before District Justice James Reed. He is free on $3,500 bond.
