The city's control board approved these spending items Thursday:
A contract to St. Moritz Security, the only bidder, to supply security guards at city-operated buildings for $8.35 per hour per guard.
The final one-year option from March 1, 2002, to Feb. 28, 2003, in the contract with Waste Management to pick up residential trash.
A contract not to exceed $12,600 with Malcom Pirnie Inc. for services related to negotiations with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regarding a lawsuit over the city sewer system.
Severance of $35,670 for Joseph Palermo, assistant chief enforcement officer in the building inspection department, who retired Nov. 3.
Severance of $19,138 for Eldrice Clark, an income tax investigator, who retired Oct. 31.
Severance of $3,339 for Cheryl L. Harrell-White, a clerk typist in the health department, who retired on disability Oct. 19.
Severance of $1,015 for Tamika Shelton, a deputy clerk in the municipal court clerk's office, who resigned Oct. 1.
Severance of $829 for Valerie Beeman, a police clerk who retired Sept. 30.
