The board of education met Thursday and took these actions:
UApproved allowing the Youngstown Police/Fire Athletic League to use Hillman, East and Hayes middle schools and Volney Rogers Junior High School for their developmental youth basketball program for city residents age 8-15, with expenses covered by the program. The season would run over 11 weeks.
UAwarded a contract for roof repairs at Princeton School to Simon Roofing & amp; Sheet Metal Corp., for $31,524, to refurbish the facility in order to house students during the construction and renovation of other city schools.
UApproved recommendation of the Ohio Board of Education to compensate members of the Youngstown board at the maximum rate authorized by law. School officials said they didn't know what that rate is.
