Agencies get grants to help homeless



YOUNGSTOWN -- Eight Mahoning Valley agencies have received grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help the agencies acquire, build, renovate and operate facilities that serve homeless people, said U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. of Poland, D-17th, who announced the awards.
Receiving money are:
U & raquo;Beatitude House of Youngstown, $50,128.
U & raquo;Catholic Charities Regional Agency of Warren, $155,663.
U & raquo;Community Action Agency of Columbiana County, $284,540.
U & raquo;Mahoning County Chemical Dependency, $477,411 for Project Safe, and $351,217 for Passages.
U & raquo;Parkview Counseling Center of Youngstown, $299,249.
U & raquo;Trumbull County Board of Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health, $589,926.
U & raquo;Youngstown City Health District, $160,000.
U & raquo;Youngstown State University, $150,924.
