BOARDMAN -- The Poland High ice hockey team defeated Boardman 3-2 Sunday to win the Ice Zone's thanksgiving Tournament.
Poland (7-3) went 5-0 in the tournament, also defeating Hopewell, Canfield, Kenston and Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
Bulldogs goalie Cody Hiznay made 38 saves against the Spartans. Robbie Snyder, Robbie Wyland and Brett Pitzulo scored for Poland.
For Boardman, Bill Maloney and Brandon Spickler scored.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Left guard Mark Dixon broke his right leg, further depleting the Miami Dolphins' offensive line. Dixon, who started 25 of Miami's last 26 games, was hurt against the Buffalo Bills.

FOXBORO, Mass. -- New Orleans coach Jim Haslett could be dealt a blow if left tackle Willie Roaf is sidelined for the rest of the season.
Roaf, a starter in the last seven Pro Bowls, is scheduled today to get a second opinion on his right knee from orthopedic specialist Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala.

NEW YORK -- Losses for Nebraska and Oklahoma turned into big gains for Florida, Texas, Oregon and Tennessee in the AP college football media poll.
While Miami (10-0) was a near-unanimous choice at No. 1 in The Associated Press Top 25, Florida moved up to No. 2, Texas to No. 3, Oregon to No. 4 and Tennessee to No. 5.
Nebraska (11-1), beaten by Colorado 62-36 on Friday, fell four spots to No. 6, while Oklahoma tumbled seven places to No. 11 after its 16-13 loss to Oklahoma State on Saturday.
The Hurricanes, who close out the regular season on Saturday at Virginia Tech, collected 71 first-place votes and 1,799 points from the 72 sports writers and broadcasters on the AP panel. Miami defeated Washington 65-7 on Saturday, dropping the Huskies (8-3) seven places to No. 19.

INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Spook Express, second in the Breeders' Cup Filly & amp; Mare Turf last month, was euthanized after falling near the finish line in The Matriarch at Hollywood Park.
The 7-year-old mare was trained by Thomas Skiffington.
Kostelic stunswith skiing victory
ASPEN, Colo. -- While his sister, Janica, was emerging as one of the world's great skiers, Ivica Kostelic could only cheer her on.
Four severe knee injuries since 1998 had stalled his promising career -- until Sunday, when he pulled off a stunning upset victory in the season's first World Cup men's slalom.
The 22-year-old Croatian skied out of the 64th position in the first run, then was fastest in the second run to win in 1 minute, 38.81 seconds. It was the latest starting position for a slalom winner in World Cup history and third latest in any event.

Appleby winsAustralian Open
GOLD COAST, Australia -- Stuart Appleby won the Australian Open by three strokes, shooting a 6-under-par 65 to match the course record.
He finished the four rounds in 13-under 271 for his first victory in his home country since 1998. Appleby, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour, was runner-up in the 1998 Australian Open.
Scott Laycock, who shared the lead after three rounds, shot a 68 and finished in second place at 274.
Ernie Els closed with a 67 and finished five strokes behind Appleby at 276.
Sandelin wins
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Sweden's Jarmo Sandelin won his first title in two years, shooting a 4-under-par 68 to capture the $1.5 million BMW Asian Open by one stroke.
Sandelin had a four-round total of 10-under 278. Sharing second were Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal (67) and Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee (67).
Sandelin earned $242,200 for winning Asia's richest tournament, which was sanctioned by the European Tour and the Asian PGA-run Davidoff Tour.
Sweden's Carl Pettersson (72) and England's Barry Lane (69) were at 281.
Murota takesCasio Open
KAIMON, Japan -- Kiyoshi Murota shot a 4-under-par 68 to win the $1.16 million Casio World Open.
Murota offset a pair of bogeys with four birdies, and closed out the final round with an eagle on the 18th hole at the Ibusuki Golf Club to finish at 24-under 264.
He beat Dinesh Chand of Fiji by two strokes.
Eggum, Muratatake silvers
SOFIA, Bulgaria -- U.S. wrestlers Brandon Eggum and Stephanie Murata finished with silver medals on the final day of the freestyle world championships.
Eggum lost to Khadjimurad Magomedov in the 187-pound class. The Russian won the gold medal with a 3-0 overtime decision.
In the women's competition, Hitomi Sakamoto of Japan captured the gold in the 112-pound division by beating Murata 3-1.
