Architect award
The Arizona chapter of the American Institute of Architects awarded Angela Mazzi, a Youngstown native, its Young Architect Citation for 2001.
The citation recognizes community service, excellence in design, education and service to the profession. She is the daughter of Dr. James and Anita Mazzi of Liberty.
Mazzi is an award-winning architect and published author. She serves as chairman of the Land Use Subcommittee for Valley Forward, an organization dedicated to regional quality of life issues in Phoenix, has been a member of the City of Phoenix Housing and Neighborhood Commission since 1997, serves as chairman of the commission's affordable housing design subcommittee, and has taught classes on housing and urban design to the residents of Central City South, a blighted and troubled Phoenix neighborhood.
Her work in Central City South contributed to the recent award of a $35 million Hope VI grant for improvements in this neighborhood. She lives in Phoenix with her husband.
STATE PATROL
Troopers promoted
Michael W. Finamore, commander of the Ohio State Highway Patrol office of finance and logistic services, has been promoted to lieutenant colonel and will serve as assistant superintendent of administration.
Finamore, a Youngstown native and graduate of Boardman High School, joined the patrol in 1978. Finamore and his wife, Charlene, live in Lewis Center, Ohio. They have two children.
James J. Holt, another Youngstown native and a Chaney High School graduate, has been promoted to lieutenant and will serve as assistant district commander at the OSHP Bucyrus District Headquarters.
He joined the patrol in 1977. He and his wife, Gloria, live in Mansfield. They have three children.
