AUSTINTOWN 2 to face marijuana charges

AUSTINTOWN -- Police said they arrested a Ruby Courts man and cited a South Roanoke Avenue man Tuesday after each was found with suspected marijuana on separate occasions near South Raccoon and New roads.
Police also are considering charging a Cavalcade Drive woman after she was found with the prescription drug Diazepam on Tuesday.
The Ruby Courts man, 19, was charged by police with drug possession as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.
Reports say that an officer spotted the man in a car at South Raccoon and New roads at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The man noticed the officer and drove off, leading police on a short chase through Wedgewood Plaza before stopping on Edinburgh Drive.
While searching the man's car, police found a pager with messages consistent with drug sales and a partially burned suspected marijuana cigarette.
Meanwhile, police cited the South Roanoke Avenue man, 19, on possession of suspected marijuana after a traffic stop Tuesday night on South Raccoon and New roads. A drug-sniffing dog was brought in and police found suspected marijuana cigarettes and seeds in the man's pocket.
Police also are investigating a report that the Cavalcade Drive woman, 33, had 17 Diazepam pills in her purse. The woman's ex-husband called police at 4:15 p.m. and said he found the pills.
